Discover the joy of sailing on one of our many courses and voyages
To support our charitable work we offer RYA Sail Training courses and voyages for independent individuals aged 12 to 19 years during the school holidays, a number of RYA Competent Crew, Day Skipper Practical, Coastal Skipper Practical and Yachtmaster Preparation and Exam courses for adults throughout the sailing season, and also occasional adult coastal voyages, day sails and sailing and wild swimming trips.
We are a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Approved Activity Provider and run open Bronze, Silver and Gold DofE Expedition voyages and DofE Gold Residentials during the school holidays. In addition, anyone aged 18 to 25 can fulfil their DofE Gold Residential on one of our Adult RYA courses throughout the sailing season.
We also run several voyages exclusively for home educated students, which follow the same itinerary as our adventure sailing voyages. Contact us for more information.

All voyages start and finish in Plymouth, unless stated otherwise, and follow the RYA Cruising syllabus.
Prices include accommodation, use of waterproofs, safety equipment and all meals on board.
All voyages and courses are operated by The Island Trust’s trading subsidiary Island (Cutter) Ltd.

Sailing in the magnificent waters along the south Devon and south Cornwall coast, sailing east or west depending on the weather conditions, there are plenty of hidden coves, tiny islands and harbours with places to fish, swim, visit beaches and have barbecues.
**Our expected arrival time in Plymouth is not guaranteed and is weather and sea conditions dependent. To allow for a later arrival we recommend making flexible onward travel plans.
We strongly advise that you take out suitable travel insurance as soon as you book your holiday, that provides cover in the event of cancellation, loss or damage to baggage, additional medical or transport costs.

RYA Recognised Training Centre
Crewed by professional sailing staff, qualified at the highest level, all of our vessels have been coded by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and inspected for seaworthiness and safety.
The Island Trust and its operating company, Island (Cutter) Ltd, have robust policies and procedures in place to guarantee your safety onboard including:
- Health and Safety Policies
- Child Protection Policies
- Valid DBS Disclosure for all staff and volunteers
We are members of the Association of Sail Training Organisations (ASTO).
Full time and relief skippers are RYA Yachtmasters and Cruising Instructors or higher, and mates and volunteers are qualified to levels appropriate to the responsibilities they carry in accordance with statutory MCA and RYA regulations and guidelines.
