Our Adventure Sailing voyage on Sunday 12 April provided a fantastic trip for everyone on board. Covering just under 100 nautical miles, the trainees worked towards their RYA Competent Crew qualification, with some also completing their DofE Gold Residential. A pod of dolphins joined us en route to Fowey, swimming beside the bow – always such an amazing sight.
On this voyage, we welcomed a very special trainee: Jamie, the great-grandson of Hubert Monroe. Hubert founded The Island Trust in 1973 alongside Dick Lloyd and Frank Collier; we know he would have been proud to see his great-grandson continue his love of sailing with the charity he helped to establish. It is delightful to see The Island Trust continuing to inspire young people across the generations.
