2016 proved to be a busy year for The Island Trust, with over 600 young people sailing with us, many of them disadvantaged/disabled. We now look forward to 2017 and our bookings are already looking healthy. As always, the biggest barrier to us supporting even more people is finance. The cost of running the charity and maintaining the boats is considerable. Most of our client group could not contemplate the full cost of a voyage, so our bursaries are in much demand and our boats are subject to much wear and tear. We are proud of the fact that we have never turned a deserving young sailor away on grounds of their inability to find the full funds.
In 2017 we will hold a fundraising dinner and although we are still finalising the finer details, perhaps you might consider reserving a table for your staff, clients, or even just for yourselves and a group of friends. In 2013 our 40th Anniversary Dinner raised an amazing £80,000!
