Come onboard and enjoy some fabulous cruising for your Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Gold Residential, RYA Courses and mile building, or simply come for the pure enjoyment of being at sea.

To support our charitable work we run Sail Training voyages for individuals aged 12 to 25 years during the school holidays, a number of RYA Competent Crew, Day Skipper Practical, Yachtmaster Exam Preparation six day courses for all ages throughout the sailing season, and occasional voyages specifically for adults.

We also run a number of voyages specifically for home educated pupils, similar in style to our teenage weeks. Contact us for more information.

All voyages start and finish in Plymouth, unless stated otherwise, and follow the RYA Cruising syllabus. Prices include accommodation, use of waterproofs, safety equipment and all meals on board.

The British Firework Championships 2018 – Plymouth

A great opportunity for everyone.  Bring your family, your friends, or just come on your own and join us onboard Moosk and watch The British Firework Championships from the water this August.
At 2pm on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th August we will crew up at Plymouth Yacht Haven marina for an afternoon sail in the Sound, dropping anchor around 5/6pm for a light supper and get ready to watch the fireworks extravaganza. Returning to Plymouth Yacht Haven around 9:30/10pm.
Maximum of 10 places available each day.  The minimum age for children is 12, and children must be accompanied by a parent.  No previous sailing experience necessary. All safety equipment is provided.

**All courses follow the RYA Cruising syllabus, and can include the option to gain Royal Yachting Association Qualifications.
Photographic ID is required for voyages visiting the Channel Islands. A Student ID card or a Citizencard fulfils these requirements.
Passports are required for voyages visiting France.  We will inform you beforehand if ID or a Passport is needed for your voyage.
Travel insurance will be required for excursions abroad.

RYA Recognised Training Centre

Crewed by professional sailing staff, qualified at the highest level, all of our vessels have been coded by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and inspected for seaworthiness and safety.

The Island Trust and its operating company, Island (Cutter) Ltd, have robust policies and procedures in place to guarantee your safety onboard including:

  • Health and Safety Policies
  • Child Protection Policies
  • Annual DBS Disclosure for all staff and volunteers

We are members of the Association of Sail Training Organisations (ASTO).

Full time and relief staff are RYA Yachtmasters and Cruising Instructors or higher, and volunteers are qualified to levels appropriate to the responsibilities they carry in accordance with statutory MCA and RYA regulations and guidelines.
