The Island Trust

For almost 40 years The Island Trust has been transforming lives by providing confidence building, challenging adventure for disadvantaged and disabled young people from across the UK.

The Trust helps deserving groups and individuals by providing sailing opportunities and financial assistance to meet the costs of sailing courses at RYA Centres and onboard its fleet of traditionally rigged vessels.

In 2011 we helped almost 1000 young people from all backgrounds and abilities to experience the thrill of sailing. Youngsters from the ages of 10 to 25 enjoyed a variety of sailing experiences both inshore and offshore with The Island Trust:

This is what we did;

Offshore sailing onboard Tectona, (run by us for The Tectona Trust who themselves use it for drug rehabilitation programmes).

On Pegasus and Moosk- offshore adventure weeks and taking part in The Tall Ships’ Races. Many youngsters also took part in multi-activity sailing weeks at the ICC- Salcombe.
