The Island Trust Merges with Cremyll Sailing
From Dick Lloyd, Trustee of The Island Trust
“I am very pleased to say that our season working in conjunction with Cremyll Sailing has been so successful that we have merged the two charities as from the 1st January 2012 under the name of The Island Trust.
This means that the three boats, Pegasus, Moosk and Tectona, will be operated by the Trust’s wholly owned subsidiary, Island (Cutter) Ltd.
The merger has been made possible by the generosity of Andrew Thornhill Q.C. in providing facilities for the operation at his boatyard, Mashford’s, and we are working to have an office there as soon as finances permit work to be carried out. Our philosophies are very similar, and the personnel joining us from Cremyll add greatly to our expertise, and I am confident that the Trust can only go from strength to strength.
The MOOSK Purchase
We are very pleased to announce that we are now officially the proud owners of 1906 Gaff Yawl ‘MOOSK’.
Previously owned by Scottish Charity EISCA (Eyemouth International Sailing Craft Association) we are keen to ensure that our beneficiaries have the opportunity to sail onboard this lovely lady. By taking ownership of MOOSK we are able to safeguard her future, control her sailing schedule and provide the perfect sail training environment onboard.

The Island Trust Head Quarters
For nearly 40 years the Trust has operated from the home of Trustees Dick and Judy Lloyd. Now we are delighted to be moving to premises in Plymouth.
The new HQ will need a little work to make it a usable space. Comprising of three floors in an historic building within the Mashford’s Boat Yard at Cremyll. We hope to convert this splendid property into The Island Trust offices, equipment storage space, crew and volunteer accommodation and training rooms for winter courses.
We hope to raise funds both for MOOSK and the Head Quarters, we need to raise £100,000 to buy much needed safety and navigation equipment to bring Moosk up to standard and to convert the derelict property at Mashfords.
